Calallen High School Art Department participated in the Visionarios Art competition at the Art Museum of South Texas this past weekend and the results are in! These students will have the opportunity to have their artwork hanging in a museum for display during the next month! There are not that many individuals that can say that! Congratulations to all students who participated and placed!

The name Visionarios celebrates youthful vision and creativity as expressed through art. This year's emphasis on arts integration into the classroom curriculum gave students the opportunity to demonstrate understanding of core S.T.E.M. concepts through visual art. Students engaged in a creative process which connects their art and a S.T.E.M. objective to make S.T.E.A.M!

Research shows that students who study the arts perform better in the classroom and on standardized tests and are less likely to drop out of school. Arts education also helps students develop the self-discipline, cooperation, and self-motivation necessary for high achievement in school and in life.

A very special thank you to Flint Hills Resources and Art Museum of South Texas (AMST) whom are dedicated to helping young people envision a bright future and develop the discipline and creativity to achieve their goals. Both Flint Hills and the Art Museum of South Texas sponsored this event.
